Welcome from the Director, Ceri Jones

Welcome to the latest edition of our newsletter.  REIS is now bedding down following a period of substantial operational change for the team.  I’m delighted to see that the newly established College Hubs are fully operational, delivering professional services across both campuses.

Our environment continues to change at pace, as at the beginning of April the central REIS team relocated from Floor 7 of the Faraday Tower and the Digital Technium to the 2nd Floor of the Talbot Building.  The move enables the co-location of central Research Development, Project Services, Commercial Services (including Swansea Innovations and EEN Wales) and the Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership (including ION Leadership).

The University’s Award Management System (AMS) has now been active for over 3 months, and it's encouraging to see so many colleagues utilising this new on-line system for the submission of funding proposals.

Many of these funding proposals are currently being submitted for internal approval within the  five days preceding a sponsor deadline in line with the institutional policy.  A thorough review may not available for those proposals that are submitted later than this 5 day timescale which may lead to errors that can have an effect on the University’s reputation.  To ensure you receive the support required with your bid and cost preparation, please liaise closely with the Research Development Officer within your College Hub.

I hope you find the latest edition of our newsletter useful and would welcome any constructive feedback on what you would like to see in future editions.
