Save yourself hours of laborious searches by signing up to ResearchProfessional.

Did you know that over the last decade, Swansea University has nearly tripled its research activity? In 2004/05 total research awards amounted to £13 million; in 2013/14, this now amounts to £34 million.

To help you access further funding, the Department of Research and Innovation subscribes to ResearchProfessional, an extensive database of funding opportunities from over 30 countries around the world, saving you laborious searches through hundreds of funders' webpages!

The majority of funding at Swansea University originates from the Research Councils.  In order to apply you will need to sign up to use the Research Councils loint electronic submission service Je-S.  Je-S is the portal for the Research Councils joint electronic submissions service.

ResearchProfessional

DRI subsrcibes at the ‘bronze” level to ResearchProfessional which provides researchers with full access to all the major (and minor) UK and overseas funding calls. You can search for funding information by discipline, sponsor, by recent calls or by upcoming deadlines.

  • Access from home or conferences - so no need to be on the University network
  • Saved searches and bookmarks - store items of interest for future reference, download and email to colleagues; re-run your searches
  • Automated email alerts - tailored according to your discipline and research interests
  • Research Fortnight - a fortnightly bulletin of all new funding calls

From any computer within the University network, you can start searching directly by going to http://www.researchprofessional.com and choosing Self-registration or Campus Access.

A more detailed description is available on the Research Professional web page.

Research Council Funding

To apply to one of the Research Councils (RCUK) for funding you will need to set up an account to use their on line submission system Je-S. Je-S is the portal for the Research Councils joint electronic submissions service.

Je-S is used by AHRC, BBSRC, EPSRC, ESRC, MRC, NERC and STFC as well as the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) and Energy Technologies Institute (ETI), to provide their communities with electronic research grant services.

Do you have an existing Je-S account from a previous institution? If so, you do not need to set up a new account, you can just amend the existing one. Please refer to the guidance available on the website to see how to do this.

In both cases please allow at least 7 days for your account to be set up and approved.
